"Sketches and drawings"
This installation consists of raw materials used during the creation
of the project “entre vistas”. These sparse audio-visual
objects can be found altered and transformed in the finalised work,
both in terms of their function and aesthetic quality.
Why show theses “rests”, the surplus produced during the
shaping of a work? Perhaps because these residues never stop being a
generator of work, if nothing else, through the very question of their
status in a creative process that exceeds the finalized product. One
of the artists asked during the interview with Mário Afonso:
“What do you do with the rests of your work?”; this question,
having no answer is however central to the experimental artistic creation.
"Esquissos e desenhos" has no intention of being an autonomous
work, nor does it present a truthful testimony of a working process;
it simply puts forth the poetic potential of creative works’ residues.
